Adams Memorial Hospital’s Worthman Fitness Center in conjunction with Decatur-Adams County Parks and Recreation will host the Catch Your Breath Race on Sunday, September 12, 2010.
Awards will be given to the overall men and women winners and the top three finishers in each age division.

Adams Memorial Hospital, Parks and Recreation, Purdue Cooperative Extension of Adams County, and The Arthur and Gloria Muselman Wellness Pavilion are Co-sponsoring a Wellness initiative for children ages 8-16 years of age. The
program is called “Super Kids Dare to Be Healthy”, and is an eight week class addressing nutrition, physical activity, and behavioral health.

Classes will focus on several different diabetes topics, including carbohydrate counting and dietary management, foot and skin care, exercise, the emotional aspect of having diabetes, self-monitoring blood glucose meters, how often to check glucose levels, lifestyle hints to help control blood sugar, how specific drug classes prescribed for diabetes work, drug side effects, and drug interactions. There is no out of pocket expense for the diabetes class, AMH accepts what Medicare and insurance pay for the education. Instructors are certified diabetes educators.
Radiation Oncology Associates of Ft.Wayne will begin a radiation clinic at the Strickler Cancer Institute on the first Wednesday of every month. Intake visits of new patients and follow-up visits on patients who have completed their series of radiation treatments can be seen at the new clinic, thus decreasing unnecessary travel to Ft. Wayne.
Adams Memorial Hospital will be holding a Diabetes Support Group called Healthy Habits. The class will be offered at Adams Memorial Hospital on Monday mornings from 10: 30am to 12pm in the Berne Room on the following dates:
Space is limited, sign up now for Childbirth Education Classes at Adams Memorial Hospital. The next class will be held on Saturday, September 11th from 9am to 3pm. The class will be held in Decatur Room #2 at AMH.
The AMH Maternity Center offers childbirth classes to help you answer many questions you may have; not only concerning “epidurals” and other options for pain relief, but also how to know when you are in labor, what to bring to the hospital and how your partner can provide support when you are in labor. We also help you know what to expect, and learn how life changes after the baby is born. A tour of our beautiful Maternity Center is also included. The cost is only $20 for those families delivering at AMH.
